Our U10 Academy is where the Ashbourne Raptors journey begins. Designed specifically for our youngest players, this group is all about introducing children to the game of basketball in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. There’s no pressure here to perform or compete instead, our focus is on building a genuine love for the sport that will stay with these children for years to come.
Sessions are structured around fundamental skill introduction: dribbling, passing, basic footwork, coordination, and an understanding of the court and its rules. Our coaches use age-appropriate drills and plenty of games to keep training sessions lively, engaging, and most importantly fun. At this stage, we place a strong emphasis on participation over performance, ensuring every child, regardless of natural ability or prior experience, feels included and supported.
The U10 Academy is also about developing the building blocks of teamwork and sportsmanship. Children learn how to work alongside their teammates, celebrate each other’s progress, and develop the confidence to try new skills without fear of getting it wrong. Many of our young players arrive at their first session having never touched a basketball before, and our coaching team is experienced in nurturing complete beginners into confident, capable young athletes.
Parents can expect their children to come away from each session having learned something new, made new friends, and burned plenty of energy along the way! As an academy-based group this year, the focus remains firmly on development, enjoyment, and building the foundations that will prepare them for competitive basketball in the years ahead as they progress through the club’s age groups.

As we head into the 2026/27 season, we are calling on new players to join our U10 squad. This age group is always one of our most popular, and spaces are limited to ensure every child receives quality coaching attention.
